2019 Scholarship Exam and Taster Day

RATHDOWN TASTER DAY

We are delighted to offer 6^th class students the opportunity to experience a morning in Secondary school filled with new friends and activities as part of Rathdown Taster Day. The girls will get to meet fellow 2019 First Year classmates and explore their future surroundings while taking part in taster subjects followed by some delicious lunch. As part of our programme to support the transition to Rathdown School, we offer girls the opportunity to spend a morning experiencing some of the different and exciting subject areas and activities.

What happens on Taster Day

Taster day runs from 9.30am to 1.30pm and features a series of fun and educational activities such as Science, Drama, Maths, PE and Art. Early drop off can be facilitated from 8.30am onwards to Hillcourt House.

The girls will take part in lessons, play some sport, enjoy a drama or music lesson, and meet their future classmates, ensuring that the transition to Rathdown is a smooth as it can possibly be.

Registration

After registering in Hillcourt House, girls will be assigned to groups and take part in a series of activities that will inspire and provide them with a taste of senior school life.

Lunch

Girls will be able to meet up and socialise with members of the other groups during morning break and lunchtime.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Our canteen offers a wide choice of options to suit most tastes and dietary requirements.

Clothing and equipment

Girls should wear casual clothes with trainers and a jacket so that they are comfortable and able to take part in a PE session.

We will provide any equipment the students may need for their lessons.

Collection

Students should be collected at 1.30pm from the Senior School Canteen, where staff members will be available to answer any questions.

RATHDOWN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION

Our annual scholarship exam for incoming 1^st Year students takes place on Saturday, 8^TH December 2018 and consists of papers in English, Irish and Mathematics.

Rathdown School expects to award the following Scholarships:

1. One full junior-cycle scholarship, covering full tuition fees first to third year inclusive, after which an application for a senior scholarship (fourth to sixth year) can be made.
2. One half junior-cycle scholarship, covering half the tuition fees first to third year inclusive, after which an application for a senior scholarship (fourth to sixth year) can be made.
3. One junior-cycle boarding scholarship covering up to half the boarding fees, first to third year inclusive, after which an application for a senior scholarship (fourth to sixth year) can be made.
4. Five €1,500 (per academic year) junior-cycle tuition scholarships, first to third year inclusive, after which an application for a senior scholarship (fourth to sixth year) can be made. 

Please complete the Scholarship Application Form and return same to Rathdown School with the fee of €30 by 23^rd November 2018.
