New Hockey Coach

We are delighted to welcome the expertise of the former National Technical and Assistant Coach with the World cup Silver medallist Irish Women’s team, Colin Stewart to the Rathdown Hockey Coaching Team.

Colin, (known as Bacchus in the hockey world) will be with us from our pre-season until Christmas when he returns to his native New Zealand. We are very lucky to have such a successful world-famous coach. This will further develop our hockey programme from coach tuition, to student learning on and off the pitch, as Bacchus is a product of the Australian Institute of Sport Hockey Programme and qualified Art and PE teacher.

Bacchus has previously coached the New Zealand Blacksticks Women team who were ranked third in the world at the time. At European and world cup level he has coached Pembroke men’s to reach the EHL last 16 tournaments and Surbiton women’s to win the English Championships as well as winning 9 trophies in four years with Hermes Hockey.
